About The Exhibit

Native Lands is a photographic journey through the lands of nine North American tribes using traditional methods to revitalize their environments. The images featured in the exhibit are the focus of a photo essay by Jack Dykinga with accompanying text by Charles Bowden featured in the August 2010 issue of National Geographic. Jack’s timeless landscapes show the work that indigenous peoples are doing to restore and revive their communities, and serve as a commentary on land use, stewardship and the importance—for all—of preserving Native lands for future generations.
