California Native Plant Society

With more than 10,000 passionate members, California Native Plant Society is a growing statewide nonprofit focused on the preservation and appreciation of California’s indigenous vegetation. Founded in 1965, CNPS relies on local chapters and member outreach efforts to protect California’s native plant species. Among its many goals are the promotion of land stewardship by the public, the preservation of plant habitats, and the education of Californians in native horticulture.

Theodore Payne Foundation

Founded in 1960, the Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers and Native Plants promotes the preservation of California’s native plants with an ancillary focus on water conservation and restoring wildlife habitats. The Foundation operates a year-round retail nursery, offering the region’s largest and most interesting selection of California native plants, as well as an Education Center and Outreach program that offers classes and field trips for adults and children.
