The G2 Gallery Presents Untamed
September 14–October 24, 2010
Venice, CA – On Tuesday, September 14, 2010, The G2 Gallery will premiere Untamed, a solo show of photography by Marc Levine that will raise awareness about cheetahs, a once common animal now listed as an Endangered Species.
With the capability of reaching speeds over 70 mph, the cheetah is considered the world’s fastest land animal. While these lean, long-legged and aerodynamic mammals are known for their speed, they are also known to be clumsy fighters, resulting in their frequent loss of prey to more aggressive predators such as lions and hyenas. These issues in addition to conflict with humans, the loss of habitat, as well as its own loss of genetic variation have compromised the once common cheetah, now listed as an Endangered Species.
Untamed will be the backdrop for a fundraiser for the Cheetah Conservation Fund, taking place on October 8, 2010 with a special appearance by CCF’s Co-Founder and Executive Director Dr. Laurie Marker. Dr. Marker will give a talk on the necessity of preserving cheetah habitats and the work CCF is doing at its headquarters in Namibia, the most populous cheetah region in the world.
