Venice, CA – On Tuesday, September 14, 2010 The G2 Gallery will premiere Nature LA: Christa Mae, a solo show of photography examining nature at a macro level.
Christa Mae will be exhibiting images from her series “Nature Dissected,” macro shots of flora photographed in the wild, disassembled, and then reconstructed into graphic color-based abstractions. Guided by nature’s basic palettes, as well as the principles of shape, line, light, and form, Christa’s plants themselves are reinterpreted as objects of design. To achieve this effect, the original imprint is sliced and repositioned in photoshop, but no further manipulations take place. By dissecting and recomposing macro shots of plant life, Christa reminds us how nature has influenced our man-made world with its color and design.
Nature LA: Christa Mae is the eleventh installation of the Nature LA series, The G2 Gallery and curator Jolene Hanson’s ongoing exploration into the intersection between nature and fine art photography.
The G2 Gallery donates all proceeds from art sales to environmental charities. The opening reception will coincide with the opening for Roy Toft OSA: Where the Rainforest Meets the Sea. RSVP required to
