The G2 Gallery Presents Nature LA: Nathanial Havholm
Series of Images from Icy Bay, Alaska opens February 2, 2010
Venice, CA – On Tuesday, February 2, 2010, The G2 Gallery will open Nature LA: Nathanial Havholm, a solo exhibition of photography. This exhibition will be a part of The G2 Gallery’s Nature LA series. Nature LA brings into focus the work of individual photographers based in the Los Angeles area whose passion is shooting in nature. The exhibitions rotate regularly to showcase up-and-coming photographers from Los Angeles.
For his exhibition at The G2 Gallery, Nathanial will show a series of landscapes that encapsulate that magnificence and unique beauty of remote Icy Bay, Alaska. Originally shot while on location for an assignment with the “Discovery Channel” in late 2007, Nathanial’s viewfinder reveals a still world of ice sculptures in the sand, in a place accessible only by bush plane or kayak. Icy Bay has been revealed in the past 100 years by the rapid retreat of the tidewater glaciers of the region, the Guyot, Tyndall, and Yahtse. The ice pictured in this series are the remnants of those glaciers.
An Artist’s Reception will be held Friday, February 5, 2010, from 6–9 pm, featuring a very special concert by the performance art group String Theory.
