G2 Gallery Will Celebrate the Opening of Nature LA: Larry Brownstein
with a Fundraiser for The Last Straw Project
Marine Themed Exhibit Will Highlight The Last Straw’s Mission of Ocean Conservation Awareness, December 4, 2009
Venice, CA – On Friday, December 4, at 6pm, The G2 Gallery will celebrate the opening of the solo photo exhibit Nature LA: Larry Brownstein with a fundraiser for The Last Straw Project. These events will coincide with the Holiday-themed December edition of Abbot Kinney First Fridays.
The Last Straw is a 3-phase project to communicate the impact of plastic pollution on the world’s oceans, the eco- system that lives there, and the fisheries we harvest. The goals of the project are to complete a research expedition, a speaking/cycling tour and to engineer a boat made of plastic straws that will cross the English Channel. These endea- vors will be undertaken over the course of the next two and a half years. Nature LA: Larry Brownstein corresponds to this project with its brooding images of gulls, who are directly impacted by polluted oceans.
