G2 Gallery Presents Southwest Group Exhibition
Exhibit of Photography and Fine Art Pottery Will Open November 14, 2009
Venice, CA – On November 14, 2009 the G2 Gallery will present Southwest, a group exhibition of artists working in photography and fine art pottery. Photographers Kate Dennis and David Petit will offer views of the unique terrain of the Southwest. Lynne Pomeranz will represent the wild horses of the region in her dynamic action shots of these unfettered creatures. Sandra Lee Childs’s contribution to the exhibit is a continuation of her extensive body of work and created expressly for this exhibtion; they are completely hand crafted gourd pots with Anasazi-inspired motifs and life-like sculpted reptiles.

Exhibition related events at G2 Gallery will include an Artists’ Reception on November 14 at 6:00 pm and a talk given by author Deanne Stillman on her book Mustang: The Saga of the Wild Horse in the American West to be held on December 3 at 7:00 pm. All G2 Gallery events are free and open to the public.

Proceeds from Southwest will be donated to environmental charities.
About Southwest Artists
For many years Sandra Lee Childs roamed the Southwest like a nouveau bedouin, surveying the landscape from her motor home on a journey of discovery. On these long sojourns through ruins of Native civilizations, Sandra Lee would often come across potsherds crawling with reptiles that would later serve as inspiration for her gourd pots. Sandra Lee settled in Northern California where she handcrafts gourds and lifelike one-of-a-kind sculptures of reptiles. Her work is collected by aficionados across the country.

Kate Dennis is a self-taught photographer, who began to think seriously about photography as art on a trip to Mexico in the early 1990’s. She then began to experiment with black and white film during a trip to Indonesia, capturing the drama of the Buddhist and Hindu temples. Since that time, Kate’s world travels have heavily influenced her work. Kate currently resides in Toronto, Ontario where she is a member of The Toronto Visual Artists Network. Her work has been acquired by both private and corporate collections, locally and abroad.

David Pettit has been a life long Utahn and a professional photographer since the 1970’s. Born into a family of visual artists, David’s interest in photography began as a small child when he received a Brownie Camera as a gift from his parents. David gravitates toward the impossibly magnificent scenery of his native land: the towers of Zion and the strata of the Grand Staircase. As an artist and a lover of these places, David is committed to producing serious environmental photography. Today his work is in public and private collections around the world.

Lynne Pomeranz photographs wild horses of the Southwest. As her subject matter indicates, Lynne has a fascination with horses. A longtime equestrian, she worked in the equine industry before dedicating herself to photography full time. Her equine images have been on the covers of numerous publications and her first book of published photographs, Among Wild Horses: A Portrait of the Pryor Mountain Mustangs is available in bookstores nationwide.
