The G2 Gallery Presents Nature LA Photo Exhibit
Ongoing Series Will Feature a Different Los Angeles Based Nature Photographer Every Month, Commencing October 20, 2009
Venice, CA – On October 20, 2009, the G2 Gallery will present the inaugural edition of Nature LA, an ongoing series of nature and wildlife photography by Los Angeles area photographers. The exhibitions will rotate each month and showcase the work of up-and-coming nature and wildlife photographers from Los Angeles. All proceeds from the show will benefit an LA based environmental charity.
Nature LA brings into focus the work of an individual photographer based in the Los Angeles area whose passion is shooting in nature. Each participant’s unique perspective as urban environmentalist and as artist raises a specific concern brought to the fore by the verity of conservation photography. With this new venture, the G2 Gallery hopes to tap into a growing segment of the population interested in change at a grassroots level.
The Nature LA series will kick off with work by Venice resident Nick Fash. Nick’s position as an educator for Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Bay Aquarium merged with his love of diving to inspire him to begin shooting underwater photography that he could use in the classroom. He is the winner of various photo competitions and has formed a serendipitous alliance with Fuji Corp., which became aware of Nick’s work when his underwater camera housing was flooded on a dive. Nature LA will be Nick’s debut gallery exhibition. Proceeds from Nick’s Nature LA showing will benefit Heal the Bay.
Nature LA: Nick Fash will be on view October 20–November 20, 2009. An artist’s reception will take place November 6 at 6pm, coinciding with Abbot Kinney First Friday.
