White Lake is a vacation destination and community near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. A body of water with a booming summer tourist economy, it's also a lake with much Crown Land (similar to the Bureau of Land Management acreage) on its shores, containing old growth forest with abundant flora and fauna.
The White Lake Preservation Project is a collaboration of people who are committed to the Lake and its future. The goal of the WLPP, in concert with property owners and other interested individuals, is to collect information on the condition of the lake, to identify areas of vulnerability, and to implement stewardship programs, land use planning and policy approaches to protect and improve its condition.
The exhibit features images from Joyce Benham, Jim des Rivieres, Colleen Johnson, Elizabeth O’Brien, Michelle Valberg and Susan Gottlieb. All six contributing photographers are Canadians with a strong interest in protecting White Lake and its environs.
