With the capability of reaching speeds over 70 mph, the cheetah is considered the world’s fastest land animal. While these lean, long-legged and aerodynamic mammals are known for their speed, cheetahs are also known to be clumsy fighters, resulting in their frequent loss of prey to more aggressive predators such as lions and hyenas. Other problems which compromise this endangered species include their ongoing conflict with humans and the double losses of habitat and their own genetic variation.
