Amy L. von Holzhausen’s interests in travel, helping others, and the animal kingdom converge in her photographic practice. The emotional pull of these overlapping pursuits has driven her to explore five African nations, four Asian countries, Fiji, the Galapagos, Antarctica and more. Amy explains, “When given the honor to be within yards of a silverback male gorilla in the Bwindi Forest or stared down by a mother cheetah’s cold eyes in the Serengeti, it is impossible not to try to aid these noble creatures in some way.” It is with this conviction that Amy is setting aside her career as a successful graphic designer and art director to pursue nursing. With her studies nearly completed, Amy has resolved to apply her recently acquired training to developing nations and try to do some good, documenting her journeys along the way through photography.
Amy L. von Holzhausen's artistic vision of the natural world is succinctly expressed in a series of images exhibited in Nature LA. The G2 Gallery’s ongoing series of fine art photography expresses themes dealing with our environment and identifies the emerging trends in the cutting edge of a new and visually alluring form of nature photography.
