About Ira Mintz

As a practicing radiologist, Ira Mintz, M.D., has specialized in “photographing” his patients for forty years. Moving out of the office and onto the savannah,* a 1994 excursion to Africa compelled Ira to experiment with photography of another sort, one that captured the spirit and joy of our environment.

Ira has had to overcome unique challenges as a colorblind photographer to create memorable and meaningful imagery. His photography seeks to interpret a fleeting moment in time that he hopes will allow others to appreciate our fragile landscape, to help preserve it for future generations.
