Alan Mayer has always had a love for photography, though his professional life initially began as a restaurant entrepreneur. He found a partner in his life long friend, David Sidell, and started the Bratskellar and Josephina’s restaurant chain. The success of these restaurants extended west to Los Angeles where Mayer helped to introduce the “Deep-Dish” pizza to California. His years as a restaurateur were rewarding and afforded him many opportunities and accolades. Mayer remained a passionate artist and continued to pursue his creative calling of photography. Now retired from the restaurant business, Mayer is taking his ambition and vision and applying it to his photography. Mayer shoots with Canon 1ds mark 3 professional cameras, is self-published and a partner in the Printefex Studios in La Canada, California. Mayer’s landscapes are internationally acclaimed and have been published in the prestigious International “Loan Collection.” These landscapes are of both familiar and seldom-seen locations. His color selections vary from richly saturated to as soft as an old hand tinted photo. Some photos are presented “as shot” and others are artful digital mixed-media creations. His captivating images are issued as limited edition, numbered prints. In 2008 Alan was awarded the Silver Level Photographer of the Year award from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
