About Jory Vander Galien
Born and raised in rural Wisconsin, Jory Vander Galien has always had an eye for photography. From a young age, Jory was fascinated by National Geographic and vigorously studied the collections of Ansel Adams in high school and more extensively in college. After years of working various labor-intensive jobs and studying general education topics at the University of Wisconsin at Fond du Lac, Jory and his wife Vanessa moved to New Mexico. He began his professional journey as a photographer by earning his BFA in Art Studio-Photography from the University of New Mexico in 2012. His main subject matter is the wide-open desert. Jory has been featured in Photo District News and New Mexico Magazine, and has been awarded top honors in multiple photography competitions, including the Lucie Awards, Outdoor Photographer Magazine’s Great Outdoors Photo Contest, and the Telluride Photo Festival.
